Bonnie Kenk

Bonnie Kenk an IAABC Certified Parrot Behavior Consultant who is the Founder and Executive Director of one of the most successful parrot rescue organizations in the United States, Parrot Education & Adoption Center (PEAC). Headquartered in San Diego with chapters in Anchorage, Cleveland and Pittsburgh, PEAC began helping parrots in April 1996. Bonnie quickly realized that most parrots lose their homes because their owners did not take the time to educate themselves about parrots before making the choice to share their lives with one. Because of this, PEAC was one of the first rescue organizations in the United States to begin a monthly educational program for people with companion parrots. And the educational program remains the major emphasis of the organization. Several years ago, PEAC was awarded a major grant from The Pet Care Trust. The monies from this grant allowed publication of Bonnie's book How To Start And Maintain A Successful Parrot Rescue Organization which has sold close to a thousand copies. Her new book, Giving Parrots A Second Chance, has recently been published and has received rave reviews. She can be reached at parroted@peac.org.
